My first hands-on exposure to installing stamped concrete was back in 1976 at the innocent age of 14. I was working for my father at the time, helping him stamp a crosswalk in the busy downtown area of Alameda, Calif. The brick-pattern stamps we were using were made of plastic, and to prevent them from sticking to the fresh concrete, we stamped through a layer of 1-mil plastic.
